The Philadelphia Inquirer was kind enough to reprint the poem “Lent” from Velvet Rodeo in today’s Sunday edition. It’s great when a poem has legs and can keep going. This poem was written a year or two ago when we had those gentle, lamb-like winters–not the awful bear we’ve had this season. If you read this poem on this rainy day, think of crocuses and daffodils and fresh green shoots splitting through the soil. Think spring.
